The committee of ‘The Friends of Bomere Heath School’ would like to introduce ourselves to you and take this opportunity to tell you more about the group.
‘The Friends’ are a group of parents and teaching staff who work together in their own time to organize events that raise money for activities and equipment to benefit all children in the school. What do we do? Over the last 12 months ‘the Friends’ have organized several fundraising events, raising £3,843.00 We are also involved in sports days and school performances, helping out where we can – even if it’s just providing the teas and coffees!! Where does the money go? All money raised is ploughed back into the school. As an example; - Last year we provided £1250 to ensure the costs of school trips was kept as low as possible. - The coaches that took every child to see the pantomime at Christmas were covered by the group. - Not to mention the Christmas crackers at the School Christmas lunch, the giving to each child a celebratory Queen’s Diamond Jubilee mug, and hoodies for our Year 6 leavers. - In previous years we’ve been able to provide the school with a state of the art PA sound system, each class has had a digital camera, both playgrounds have been enhanced with wonderful playground markings - and the wooden climbing activity centre that I’m sure you’ve seen in the main playground. So where to I come in? Hopefully you’ve read this far! And thank you for doing so!! We are currently a very small group and we need to get a lot BIGGER to continue to provide this financial injection to the school. We are under no illusion, we’re parents ourselves, that without you, our parents, who dig deep to support these events, we would not be able to provide much needed assistance to the school. HOWEVER, we do need people to join our committee; sadly we cannot continue as we are. The more parents who can commit to joining us the less work we all have to do whilst continuing to run a variety of events for all to enjoy while raising money. What will I be committing to? We meet up for a ‘brainstorming’ ideas meeting once every half-term and obviously running up to events we try to meet a few more times to ensure events run smoothly. Currently we meet on a Tuesday evening (sometimes in a pub!) but this is a flexible arrangement! If you would be interested in joining us, or even coming along to one meeting to find out more, or speaking to a member of the current committee please contact us here. Tell us whether you'd be willing to join the committee (and what days/times you could make for meetings), help at events - or even just go on a supporters' mailing list. We're on Facebook too - so if you want updates when there's new stuff on the site, great deals at the webshop or news of events, click here and "Like" our page (share it with your friends too!) The school itself has its own website, which has more information about activities in school, its curriculum and governance. And if you're looking to find out more about the village, try Mike's village website. |
